About

Benjamin Watt - PhotoI’m Benjamin Watt, and I live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I have been interested in CG (Computer Graphics) pretty much since I first saw Pixar’s ‘Toy Story’ in 1995. It wasn’t until 2002 when I came across ‘3D Buzz’ that I discovered a great way to learn how to do some of this for myself.

Initially starting out learning 3DS Max, I moved to focus on Maya in late 2004-early 2005, taking part in the first ever 3D Buzz online class on Maya networks. I was one of just eight students taking this class, and the second to graduate, with much success (as can be seen in this post by the instructor of the class, Jason Busby).

Since then I have successfully graduated with Honours the ‘Mastering Maya: The Fundamentals’ 3D Buzz class, and continue to work on the art of modelling from the vast video tutorial library that is the ‘Mastering Maya: Advanced Modelling’ 3D Buzz series.

As well as my interest in Maya, I also have been spending some time getting to grips with SideFx’s Houdini – another CG software package that really allows you to work under the hood, and really appeals to the technical side of my mind!

I have a BSc degree in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow, where I graduated in 2003, and currently work primarily in the field of IT networking and security.

My other big passion is for photography, and I rarely leave the house without my trusty Canon 5D digital SLR. It gives me real opportunities to just go and explore, seeing things differently, capturing memories as I go.
